MAYVSO Annual Meeting and Mountain Lake Migratory Bird Festival May 16-18, 2008 | ||||||||
| Members of the New River Valley Bird club and the Virginia Society of Ornithology led field trips and workshops during the joint VSO and festival weekend. Highlights of the weekend were a trip to the Radford Arsenal's Dublin property where 3 Henslows sparrows were recorded; Ian Sinclair's keynote presentation "Birding Darkest Africa"at the Friday banquet;
and Bill Hilton, Jr.'s recapture of hummingbird #41 for the 3rd consecutive year. 133 total species and 27 species of warblers plus a Brewster's hybrid were recorded on 36 separate field trips.
